Citrine

Dealer's Choice - What Do you LIke?

Lab Created citrine is yellow, clear, and shiny as hell. The Madeira citrine is like orange fre and fetches a higher price. I like the latter, although I have worked with both. The natural yellow citrine has some pretty cool inclusions. Usually orange spinnels along the C-axis (the direction in which the crystal grows "northward."

Citrine is a vibrant and warm gemstone, a type of quartz crystal that is known for its range of yellow to orange colors. Citrine is one of the most popular and affordable gemstones, and is often associated with abundance, joy, and positive energy.

Here are some key characteristics of citrine:

  • Color: Citrine is typically a bright, sunny yellow, although it can range in color from pale lemon to deep orange. The most valuable citrines have a vibrant, saturated color with a slight golden undertone.
  • Hardness: Citrine has a Mohs hardness of 7, which is relatively hard and durable, but not as hard as some other gemstones like diamonds or rubies.
  • Crystal structure: Citrine has a hexagonal crystal structure, which gives it a unique appearance and optical properties.
  • Clarity: Citrine often has inclusions, such as feathers, needles, or growth tubes, which can affect its clarity. However, some citrines are considered "eye-clean," meaning that they appear to be free of inclusions to the naked eye.
  • Cut: Citrine is often cut into a variety of shapes, including oval, round, and emerald cuts, to maximize its brilliance and fire.
  • Rarity: Citrine is relatively abundant, particularly in Brazil and Spain, where it is often found in large quantities. This abundance makes it more affordable than some other gemstones.
  • Properties: Citrine is said to have a number of metaphysical properties, including the ability to promote abundance, joy, and positive energy. It is also believed to have healing properties, such as reducing stress and anxiety, and promoting emotional balance.

Citrine has been prized for centuries for its beauty and symbolic meaning. In ancient times, citrine was associated with the sun and was believed to have the power to bring warmth and light to the wearer. Today, citrine remains a popular choice for jewelry, particularly for those born in November, as it is one of the birthstones for that month.

Some interesting facts about citrine include:

  • The name "citrine" comes from the French word "citron," which means "lemon." This refers to the stone's bright, citrusy color.
  • Citrine is often heat-treated to enhance its color and clarity.
  • Citrine is a relatively affordable gemstone, making it accessible to a wide range of people.
  • Citrine is often used in combination with other gemstones, such as amethyst and peridot, to create unique and beautiful jewelry pieces.
  • Citrine is said to be a powerful stone for manifestation, and is often used in meditation and energy work to attract abundance and positive energy.

Overall, citrine is a beautiful and vibrant gemstone that is perfect for anyone looking to add a touch of warmth and joy to their life. Its affordability, durability, and metaphysical properties make it a popular choice for jewelry and energy work, and its bright, sunny color is sure to bring a smile to anyone's face.

This guy is the bane of my existence. Besides being heavily included, it was the second stone I ever cut, and the first one that caught massive air as it flew off the dop. I actually lost it for three weeks until I changed the water in my drip tank and found it in there! My first hole-in-one you could say. Anyway, this booger is still on the dop and I look at it everyday with malice.
